ARTSPROJEKT

By Nichole Camarillo

My shop got picked up by Artsprojekt! YAAY!! This is such exciting news, you guys. So, of course, I wanted to share it with you. For those of you that are awesome and frequent my store, you may already know that my store is powered by Zazzle. Artsprojekt is also powered by Zazzle, but its big shit. For those of you who are curious about the differences, I'll help you out with that in a minute. First, I wanted to give you a general idea of what Artsprojekt is. Andy Howell, the founder of Artsprojekt, describes it as 'a playground in which the world's most creative individuals and brands can turn unique ideas into dynamic product experiences that best represent each individual artist and brand.' And I think that most clearly and briefly sums it up.

So basically they pick the creme of the crop from across the globe and invite them to participate. Artprojekt currently works with brands such as OBEY by Shepard Fairey, NorCal Skateboards, and Crooks & Castles. They also currently work with an elite group of dope artists, representing themselves individually. And yours truly is now one of those artists. Woot.

Now, I want to give you a heads up. When you go to my shop, the storefront will look much different. In accepting the invitation, I also gave up customization of my shop [boo]. I was told I should have better control over that kind of stuff come mid-winter. But currently every Artsprojekt storefront has the same general look and feel, so mine will take that on as well. Please don't mind the very awkward right column that is built in but, as far as I can tell, serves no purpose. Everything else works about the same. You can still browse around my shop the same. All of my products are still available to you. And everything still is 100% backed by Zazzle. It's just that now I get to sit with the cool kids. Seriously though. This means more opportunities to be involved in cool projects, exhibits, and other art related awesomeness. Cheers to that!

I can't help but be so inspired right now. I just want to create really badass designs and products. I have so many ideas racing around my head right now competing for my full attention... It's great. This is probably going to snowball into something huge. You guys watch out for that. Well... it is time to bid adieu friends. Enjoy the rest of your evening and don't forget to check me out on ARTSPROJEKT.

For All Your Design Needs

By Nichole Camarillo

I receive a lot of inquiries and comments about my website. Generally about how much people love it and how cool they think it is. Emails I receive from designers and developers are much more technical and nerdy but still add up to the same. ;) Now, I'm never one to claim on someone else's hard work and glory. Although all of the photos and paintings you see are from yours truly, I couldn't put a website together if you were holding a gun to my head. Any design, flash, blah blah meh you see on my website is WAY over my head. It's like quantum physics to me. Yeah sure, I get the general idea... but going toe to toe for all twelve rounds? ...Not happening.

Anyway, as much as I rave about the design and designer behind the curtains of the Nichole Camarillo project, he has been extremely unavailable to take on any new projects for about the past year. So, not a lot of you have been as lucky as I have been to work with him. Until now, that is. :D I received an email this morning sharing that not only is he open to taking on new clients, but he is running some pretty sweet specials. Some of the projects Rome Studios has attacked for me include: Flyers, E-Flyers, Business Cards, Web Graphics, Flash Banners, Web Design & Development. It doesn't matter if you're a well established business or are just starting one, you need these services. Like, really need. So for those of you that have been asking and wondering, I strongly suggest hitting him up as soon as you can. Herrre goes (most of) the email...

I am now available for freelance work, and wanted to let you know about some special offers. If you, your company, or anyone you know could use my services; give me a call or shoot me an email anytime. [[Interruption by Nichole] I had to make this image smaller. Porn VS Presidents

By Nichole Camarillo

Admittedly, I may not be the most patriotic person. Even the little things don't receive much enthusiasm from me. I don't like baseball. Apple pie creeps me out. I haven't seen a fireworks display in who knows how many Fourth of July's. I mean, even terrorists can get behind a colorful explosion, right? Right. My point is, even if you're coming to me with something I am interested in like, let's say... some paintings? But these paintings are of... hmm... United States Presidents, maybe? You have a time frame even Speedy Gonzalez couldn't break through, before my attention span has ran for the hills never to return. Yeah.

Having recently came across such presidential pieces and NOT running, I figured the least I could do is showcase them for you guys. Why did I not run, you ask? What is it about these paintings of our country's leaders that didn't bore me to death? Well, if your attention span is longer than mine, and you can think back to the title of this blog post, you may just have your answer. Ready? You're not ready. ...Okay, ready? On three. One... Tw-

I know, I know. I didn't count to three. Oh, and yes, you did just see Abraham Lincoln receiving fellatio. Creeeepy. The woman in the painting is the artist who painted it. Creepierrrr. Nevertheless, if there is anything that can sustain my flighty focus, twisted art and sex would definitely top the list. *shrug

Justine Lai's series of paintings entitled 'Join Or Die', are a collection of portraits of the artist in various sexual positions with United States Presidents (in chronological order). In these portraits, Justine hopes to "locate something intimate and mortal". So, if you haven't been keeping up, humanizing elite historical figures means you must have sex with them in your head and then show everyone what went down.
Aaand how! ;D

Sure to ruffle some feathers and raise some eyebrows, including herself in this vulnerable mess is Justine's way of playing a fair game.

Although the artist explains herself and her art very clearly, that doesn't make me want to call kinky power-trip any less. Don't get me wrong, I have absolutely no problem with a kinky power-trip. I'm just saying... Call something what it is.

So, what do you think... Is the artist truly touching on her so-called 'playful', 'tender' and 'humanizing act' with these portraits? Or is she exploiting these men and their roles at all costs to resolve some of her own personal issues?

...Mmhmm. Well, either way... I enjoyed them. :)
