The Beginning of the End is a group show like none other. This show seeks to reflect the tumultuous times we live in, while encouraging growth, development, collaboration, and hope within the movement. For the opening reception, we will bring to you an unforgettable event touching all the senses and emotions, with a video projection element detailing process, vibrant art, music, and liveliness of true community. It will be a night you will not want to miss. And a night you will not soon forget.

I will have NEW paintings on display at this show, including my latest painting, featured (snippet) above. I have carefully selected four paintings in total that I feel best represent where I am as an artist, as well as best convey the theme of this show. ARTSPROJEKT

My shop got picked up by Artsprojekt! YAAY!! This is such exciting news, you guys. So, of course, I wanted to share it with you. For those of you that are awesome and frequent my store, you may already know that my store is powered by Zazzle. Artsprojekt is also powered by Zazzle, but its big shit. For those of you who are curious about the differences, I'll help you out with that in a minute. First, I wanted to give you a general idea of what Artsprojekt is. Andy Howell, the founder of Artsprojekt, describes it as 'a playground in which the world's most creative individuals and brands can turn unique ideas into dynamic product experiences that best represent each individual artist and brand.' And I think that most clearly and briefly sums it up.

So basically they pick the creme of the crop from across the globe and invite them to participate. Artprojekt currently works with brands such as OBEY by Shepard Fairey, NorCal Skateboards, and Crooks & Castles. They also currently work with an elite group of dope artists, representing themselves individually. And yours truly is now one of those artists. Woot.

Now, I want to give you a heads up. When you go to my shop, the storefront will look much different. In accepting the invitation, I also gave up customization of my shop [boo]. I was told I should have better control over that kind of stuff come mid-winter. But currently every Artsprojekt storefront has the same general look and feel, so mine will take that on as well. Please don't mind the very awkward right column that is built in but, as far as I can tell, serves no purpose. Everything else works about the same. You can still browse around my shop the same. All of my products are still available to you. And everything still is 100% backed by Zazzle. It's just that now I get to sit with the cool kids. Seriously though. This means more opportunities to be involved in cool projects, exhibits, and other art related awesomeness. Cheers to that!

I can't help but be so inspired right now. I just want to create really badass designs and products. I have so many ideas racing around my head right now competing for my full attention... It's great. This is probably going to snowball into something huge. You guys watch out for that. Well... it is time to bid adieu friends. SubZero 2009 Hit HARD

If you missed the opening SubZero art reception at South First Billiards, it's probably best that you stay in the dark about what exactly you missed.

Arriving just a couple hours after I had planned on, the list of happenings I was already regretting missing had grown to be of an enormous length. Thankfully the great people in the artist collective, Heart of Chaos, and all of the wonderful inhabitants of San Jose, know how to live it up. The SubZero Festival rocked through the night into the early hours of the morning. I love having so much fun. So many people supporting and enjoying the arts. And having a blast while doing so. Several live bands were performing. Lots of interactive performances and displays throughout the festival provided crazy visuals and arose countless

questions. Many of the downtown galleries had their doors wide open, welcoming every avid art seeker dancing in the street. The thriving downtown San Jose scene was heavily spiced with street vendors, art of all walks, and endless treats to delight every one of your senses. Saying hello to so many familiar faces, and being introduced all night to new ones left my head spinning for days. Although, I'm sure kicking back (more than) a few drinks only intensified that sensation. It was quite the night out.

Although the SubZero event has packed its bags, South First Billiards will continue hosting many of my original paintings for the month of June. If you would like to check it out, South First Billiards is located at 420 South First Street in San Jose, CA. They have air hockey, ping pong, a seemingly endless number of billiard tables, karaoke, food, drinks, and more for you to enjoy during your visit. There are also many other talented artists displaying their work as well. It is definitely worth the trip.

SubZero 2009 - June 5th

Join us for an innovative interactive showcase by Haptic Synapses, an improvised techno jam featuring 4 of Silicon Valley's finest electronic musicians. The performance will include innovative techniques to modify sound parameters using physical interfaces and electronic algorithms. The audience will be invited to participate by interacting with various data sensors and controls. Musicians performing: Steve Cooley, Derek Scott (aka the Rhythmist), Charles Johnson (aka QORSER), Jono Kane (aka Noka).

In addition there will be live painting, a dance performance by One Piece and live music by Relapse, Realization and Para la Gente.

A slide and scale donation is requested at the door and will benefit Heart of Chaos At Risk Youth Mentoring Program.

A Little About Me...

My name is Nichole Camarillo. To fully explain what that name holds would take another lifetime. We're gonna go with the shorter version on this one. I'm an 80's born female of Mexican descent. I have lived my whole life in California. I've had more addresses and phone numbers than I can keep track of. I'm currently replanting myself back in the Bay Area. I am an artist. I appreciate all things beautiful, colorful, and intricately flawed. This life has taken some serious swings at me and I get stronger every day. I communicate all that I've learned, seen, felt, and experienced in this life through my paintings. It just works better that way.

I have huge goals that I'd like to see through to completion. I don't plan on stopping. The road I'm headed down won't ever get any shorter. Just maybe smooth out a bit every now and then. Feel free to follow along offering positivity, insight and encouragement anywhere you see fit. Don't be shy.

A Little About This Blog...

Originally my intentions for this blog were to use it as an 'Updates' section for my website, NicholeCamarillo.com. That didn't exactly go down the way I planned, but that's quite alright with me. This blog has slowly but surely evolved into something so much more exciting, interesting, and inspiring. I do try my best to not completely jump off into the deep end of my randomness in my posts, but I can't say it never happens. As a general rule, I try to keep things relevant to all things art. Painting, music, fashion, photography, etc. You'll find many different artists here in many different types of creative expression. The one thing they do all have in common is that I find them to be of delightful distraction. Hate it or love it, if I feel strongly about it, chances are I'll be sharing it with you guys.

Whatever it is I'm up to though, you'll still find those updates here. Whether it be new paintings, upcoming projects, exhibits, or anything else of that nature. Occasionally free things will be handed out at random as well. But just so you know, not all give-aways and updates are done here.
